Thomas “Tom” R. Butler, 53, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol Butler, who died November 3, 2013, whom he has now joined in the garden of heaven. Tom was a very caring and loving man. The world was a better place with him in it, as is heaven now that he and Carol are together again. Tom was born on March 26, 1964, in Germany. In Birmingham, Alabama, he was a supervisor at OnTheWayNOW, where he devoted nearly 18 years of his life to the company or as he called it, “his second family.” With a black belt in karate and known as, “Mr. Fix-It”, Tom loved laughing and spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, stepfather, brother, son, and uncle. Tom is survived by his mother, Ingaberg Ryan, sisters, Sonja Cassel, Bellinda Surman and Janet Bates, daughter, Wendy Killebrew, son, Eric Price, aunts, Ann Hamilton, Deborah Talbert, Joan Write and Sharon Lofstad, step sisters, Betty Key and Kim Cato, as well as his nieces and nephews. His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and love to those who took the time to reach out to them, to Tom’s wonderful friends and second family, and the staff at UAB Hospital. He will be missed.
